10 ways swing dancing is like sex

For many people, dancing is a very intimate experience. It depends on the style of dance, of course – line dancing isn’t particularly up close and personal. I, personally, dabble in swing dancing.

For those of you uncertain about what swing dancing is, might I recommend a few youtube clips, this one and this one. Essentially, those two clips will give you an idea of the era that swing dancing comes from and what it looks like nowadays as well.

It may be a harmless and wholesome social activity for the most part,  but when I’ve dragged non-dancer friends along to class or evening dances with me, a theme keeps emerging when I tell them about how things work.

  1. It’s an energetic activity leaving you coated in sweat and gasping for breath after a vigourous session.
  2. It’s much better to do to music.
  3. It’s good to try with a variety of partners, especially to find your own style and technique.
  4. If it doesn’t go well with a particular partner, you probably won’t try it again with them.
  5. You get much better at it with practice.
  6. A great session will leave you blissfully happy afterwards.
  7. You start craving it after long periods without it.
  8. Men compete to see who can have the largest number of partners in a given period of time.
  9. Some guys go at it with two women at once.
  10. When you see two guys doing it together, it looks a bit funny, but still just as much fun.

And those points don’t even start to talk about the similarities in motion or in pressing bodies up against eachother.

So, for those of you out there who haven’t had sex in a while…. might I recommend swing dancing? It works for me. 🙂
